On Thursday the 9th of March, Gladstone High School celebrated International Women’s Day. This included students coming to school with purple clothes/accessories to help spread awareness for the day with activities throughout the day at recess and lunch.
The first activity included chalk on the pavement in the quadrangle, there was a giant chalk message saying, ‘International Women’s Day’ and people could write women that inspire them around it. Some common names included names of female teachers in our school, with another familiar name, ‘Mum’. It was great to see how people weren’t afraid to write their influencers and how lots of women in our lives are inspiring people.
Our other activity included a photo frame that said ‘International Women’s Day’ with pictures of influential women on it. People could pose behind with their friends and have photos taken for the day. It was great to see how people had lots of hype and were willing to have their pictures taken to help commemorate the day and the importance of women worldwide.
Overall, thank you to everyone who wore purple accessories/clothing to school, participated in the activities, and contributed something to the day. It was fantastic to see how the day was a great success, to celebrate all women worldwide and their achievements. Thank you to everyone.
