Aboriginal Education - Judy Crosby
NAIDOC 2025
National Aborigines and Islanders Day of Commerce is held each year beginning on the first Sunday of July. It is a week of acknowledging and celebrating Aboriginal Culture and the successes that have been achieved.
Most recently, our guest performer Chris Dodd was awarded the 2025 NAIDOC Elder of the year in our region.
Chris Dodd is a Dieri Elder and storyteller through music, and we were fortunate enough to have him come and share with us on Tuesday, 29th July as part of our NAIDOC celebrations. He shared how he uses music for his wellbeing and to tell his journey of life. We were amazed by the rhythm of his guitar and didgeridoo playing.
Some of our students commented:
Destiny: I really enjoyed him playing the guitar, he was really good.
Huddy: It was interesting that he knew the region, and his music was good.
Billi: Chris expressed himself through music, which was cool.
