Fiji Update - Danya McKay
Our 2025 Fiji Trip Attendees have been busy with their fundraising.
Our online auction was a great success and we have over 120 people participating in the event. Thank you so much to our school community for their support of this initiative. It is really heartwarming for the students to see the level of interest and encouragement for their trip. All attending families contributed to the auction, with so many generous donations. There has been much wood cut, baking committed to, weeding, planting and promoting around the community to add to the list of thirty-five items to auction.
Extra thanks to the businesses who supported the event:
- Golden North
- Little Blessings Laura
- Gladstone IGA
- Platinum Ag
- Ampol Jamestown
- KD Hair and Beauty
- Memories with Claire
- Flow Remedial Massage
- Gladstone High School Ag Program
Thank you also to the bakers who extended beyond the families of those attending:
- Jo Taylor
- Tammi Kitschke
The smaller items are ready for collection in the front office. Collection times for bigger items, like loads of wood, frozen foods and baked goods, will be negotiated between the buyer and donor. If you were the successful purchaser, please ring the front office for details of the donor.
Last Friday night, we also held the Quiz Night. This was attended by 110 people, who challenged, debated and contemplated a myriad of questions. The students ran the evening and did a fantastic job of pulling it all together. Whether they were working in the kitchen, tallying the scores or announcing questions, or later doing the vacuuming, they all have a new appreciation for the level of effort involved to make nights like this successful, as well as appreciating how it contributes to building the 'team' in readiness for their trip.
As the end of Term 2 nears, the international trip is only a school term away. How exciting!
